The Crackpot News.....
Here is a round-up of humba heedee happenings.
Well, the rumours are finally true withThe Winchesters calling it
a day at the end of 2002.
As past members have shown, there is life beyond
The Winchesters:
Peter O’Reilly and Jessee Winter have formed ‘The
Swing Commanders’, a heady mix of jump jive and cowboy jazz. For details of gigs
and booking information, e-mail: swingcommanders@aol.com
Arthur Sturgeon is increasing his solo appearances,
and also joining Nick Dow’s fabulous blues band. Check it out at: www.astonespianist.co.uk
Horace Dogson is, at the time of writing considering
a multitude of offers, many of them musical. E.mail him on: horacedogson@hotmail.com
Yellin’ Yeti is joining forces with The Winchesters old boy Paul
Kister in country rock supremos The Dogs. Phone 01282 716494 to find out more.
Greg ‘Man of Steel’ Walker, original steel player
with The Winchesters is now leading
Texas Swing evangelists: The Armadillos.
Ricky Palooka, the bottleneck angel, is
appearing regularly with The Witnesses.
And what remains of the Catalogue of Crap? The
albums ‘Hot Town’ and ‘Space Station Party’ are still available at the time of
writing, but may soon join their dust covered compatriots ‘Hoofin’, Hoochin’,
Horsin’ Around’, ‘Burstin’ Out’, ‘Live in Chester’ and ‘Next Life’ in
collectable heaven. The clothing? Heck, that’s never coming back.
Other than that, there’s nowt but busted
strings, burnt dolls and the sweet memories of thousands of happy faces. If you
were one of those grins, then thank you for taking part. May that happiness
stay with you.
As the band has always said, get in touch, it
will be lovely to hear from you. Email some memories and say what The Winchesters was all
about. After all, we still don’t know.
Farewell, you dogs……
The Winchesters
